Andrew Park, USA
Dr. Andrew Park is a distinguished Korean-American pianist, chamber musician, and educator. He won First Prize at the Joanna Hodges International Piano Competition (now Virginia Waring International Piano Competition) and received a U.S. Presidential Award from President Obama in 2016. In 2017, he was named a Shigeru Kawai Artist.
Dr. Park is an Assistant Professor and Director of the Artist Certificate Program at Azusa Pacific University and an Adjunct Professor at Fullerton College. He is the Artistic Director of the International Association of Professional Music Teachers (IAPMT), serves on the Board of Directors for the American Liszt Society of Southern California, and is the Executive Director and a founding member of OpusOne International Music Festival. His teaching experience includes Idyllwild Arts Academy, Los Angeles City College, and USC Thornton School of Music.
He has performed at prestigious venues, including Walt Disney Concert Hall, Weill Carnegie Hall, La Mirada Theatre, McCallum Theatre, Zipper Hall, and international locations such as Haydn Hall in Austria and Thalia Hall in Romania. In summer 2025, IAPMT will host concerts at SUK Hall in Prague, Haydn Hall in Vienna, and Wiener Saal in Salzburg.
As a chamber musician, Dr. Park performs worldwide with the Park Trio and has collaborated with orchestras such as the El Camino College/CTS Orchestra and Dosan Philharmonic Orchestra. His students have won top prizes in international and national competitions and gained acceptance to leading conservatories and universities.
He is a sought-after masterclass instructor and competition judge, serving as Chairperson for the MTNA Annual Evaluation and Sonata/Sonatina competition. He has judged IAPMT, SATORI, Steinway, IPPA, Lansum, SYMF, and MTAC events. He also directs the Laguna Road School Choir and conducts the Montecito International Music Festival Youth Orchestra and GMCO Chamber Group.
Dr. Park studied with Nelms McKelvain at Idyllwild Arts Academy and earned his Bachelor’s, Master’s, and Doctoral degrees from USC under John Perry. His recordings include Carnival of the Animals with the Idyllwild Chamber Orchestra and a Christian CD, prière, with the Park Trio.
