Naomi Ishii Japan

After completing her piano studies in Japan, Naomi Ishii studied with Hans Leygraf at the Mozarteum University in Salzburg from 1981-1984. Then she returned to her home country and became one of the most successful Japanese pedagogues in the education of young piano talents. A great number of her students continuously get first prizes at
the PTNA Competition, the Japanese Students Competition, the Japanese Competition for Classical Music and many other contests. Ms. Ishii herself receives annually the “Teachers‘ Award” since 2001 by PTNA, the Japanese Piano Teachers National Association.

Since 2005 by the Japanese Competition for Classical Music. In 2005 she received the PTNA’s “Special Teacher’s Award”. Next to her concertizing, Naomi Ishii adjudicates at many different competitions and holds lectures and master-classes all over Japan. Since 2010 she is director of the all-Japanese Bach Competition
